"Islam is the religion of peace" - Discover the beauty of Islamic teachings

What is Islam?

Islam is a monotheistic religion founded on the belief in one God (Allah in Arabic) and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the final messenger. The word "Islam" literally means "submission to God" and comes from the same root as "peace" (salam).

With over 1.8 billion followers worldwide, Islam is the second-largest religion globally. Muslims believe that Islam is the complete and universal version of a primordial faith that was revealed many times through prophets including Adam, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.

The core message of Islam is simple yet profound: there is only one God, and Muhammad is His messenger. This declaration forms the foundation of Islamic belief and practice.

The Importance of Hadith

Hadith (plural: Ahadith) are the sayings, actions, and approvals of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. They serve as the second primary source of Islamic guidance after the Quran, providing practical examples of how to implement Islamic teachings in daily life.

The science of Hadith preservation is one of the most rigorous academic disciplines in human history. Scholars developed sophisticated methods to verify the authenticity of each narration, examining the chain of transmission (isnad) and the content (matn) with extreme scrutiny.

Through this meticulous process, Muslims can be confident in the authenticity of the Hadith collections, particularly the Sahih (authentic) collections of Bukhari and Muslim, which are considered the most reliable sources after the Quran.

"I have left among you two matters by holding fast to which, you shall never be misguided: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet."
— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Al-Muwatta)

Significance of Dhikr

The spiritual practice of remembering Allah

What is Dhikr?

Dhikr literally means "remembrance" and refers to the act of remembering Allah through specific phrases, supplications, and prayers. It is one of the most beloved acts of worship in Islam and serves as a means of drawing closer to Allah.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "The best of deeds is to remember Allah in all circumstances." Dhikr can be performed silently in the heart, quietly with the tongue, or loudly in congregation, each having its own merits and appropriate times.

Benefits of Dhikr

  • Brings peace and tranquility to the heart
  • Provides protection from Satan and evil influences
  • Increases one's rank in the sight of Allah
  • Brings barakah (blessings) in daily life
  • Strengthens the relationship with Allah
  • Purifies the soul and increases faith
وَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
"And remember Allah much that you may succeed"
— Quran 62:10
